2021 Leadership Institute Recap

A word cloud of feedback from the Leadership Institute: practical, informative, and helpful ideas

Parent to Parent USA held its 2021 Leadership Institute virtually on October 18-20, 2021. The Leadership Institute is the only national conference focused solely on the challenges of running a Parent to Parent program. Parent to Parent leaders from across the country gather to share best and promising practices to address the changing needs of families of those with disabilities and special health care needs.

The 2021 edition focused on cultivating and developing diverse leadership to advance investment in Parent to Parent peer support with these guiding principles: Refocus, Reinvent & Renew.

Our first virtual conference was also our highest attended to date. Participants represented Alliance Members in 36 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, along with P2P Partners and Friends. All tuned in for live presentations, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities.

Leadership Institute Recap: 170 attendees, 20 live sessions, 11 hours spent on average, 9.4 attendee score

In the Directors’, Coordinators’, and breakout sessions, we looked at how we can renew and reinvent in unfamiliar times. Highlights included sessions on relationship building, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and the release of P2P USA’s latest Impact Report.

It was just great to hear what everyone is doing and what changes other have made through the pandemic.
